We know mom works so hard all year long! Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 13th, and is a day to celebrate all that she does. Although you should be celebrating her and thanking her all year long, Mother’s are so forgiving and loving that having a day to themselves where they are even more loved, adored, and pampered is exactly what they need.

This year instead of compiling a list of the usual bath products, wine bottles, and accessories, I decided to create a fun chocolate and wine pairing. This is something you can give to mom to show her just how sweet she is, and the wine… well we know you’re probably one of the reasons she drinks!

Ethel M Chocolates specializes in small batch, preservative-free chocolates that are made by solar power energy (they have a four-acre solar panel garden right on site).  These chocolates are made in Nevada and are absolutely decadent. From caramels to nut filled chocolates and everything in between, you will not disappoint mom with a box of these! They offer a 2018 Limited Edition Spring Classic Collection Tin which is filled with 16 of the best and favorite of the Ethel M chocolate line. I myself am obsessed with the caramels and satin creams, but when picking a favorite flavor or combination for mom, be sure to think about the wine you will want her to sip while she savors each and every piece!

Sparkling Wine

Sterling Vineyards Sparkling Rose: This beautiful California Sparkling will wow her from the very first sip! Renowned for its effortless style and elegance, this rose petal pink sparkler will easily pair with the satin creams, lemon cream, caramel, and even a raspberry-filled chocolate. Overall this is a beautiful gift, and Sterling Vineyards Sparklings are always best enjoyed with someone special, so if she loves her bubbles, this is ideal. $28

La Caravelle, Rose Brut NV Champagne: A bright and tangy Champagne that’s as special as she is! If mom loves her Champagne and enjoys rosé, then this one is for her. 40% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 30% Pinot Meunier, this wine is floral with hints of cherry, almond, pomegranate, and fennel. $38

White Wine

2012 Lucien Albrecht Alsace Grand Cru Riesling: This gorgeous Riesling from Alsace, France is one that mom will absolutely love. It’s elegant and striking with notes of pear, apple, and honey. On the palate, it’s playful with honeysuckle and flint notes. This wine is truly something special, and can easily pair with cheeses, Ethel M chocolates, and is the perfect Mother’s Day wine she can sip outside while enjoying the beautiful spring weather. $30

2016 Seven Hills Sauvignon Blanc: I had the pleasure of trying this wine with the Winemaker, Casey McClellan. Now normally I don’t pair much sauvignon blanc and chocolate, however, for Mother’s day this can be a fun gift, especially if mom loves her crisp, fruit forward, but mineral-driven white wines. I really fell in love with this one, and think it would easily pair nicely with the lemon cream and nut abundant chocolates, due to it’s Walla Walla Washington finesse. $20

Red Wine

2015 Intrinsic Red Blend: This Washington State red blend has notes of raspberry, lavender, and mint. It’s a blend of 52% Cabernet Franc, 44% Malbec, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Merlot, and is a big wine mom will enjoy! The label is also beautiful and layered just like the wine, which has wonderful flavors of fig, chocolate, and flowers. $25

The Walking Dead Cabernet Sauvignon: Not a typical wine I would normally promote for Mother’s Day, but then again this is for the mom, who’s not like every other mom! A great pairing, of course, is red wine and chocolate, but if your mom is into The Walking Dead show, then she will love these wines, which are smooth and seductive, with plenty of spice, fruit, and balanced tannins. The best part is, she can even interact with the wine label, and plug it into the Living Wine Labels App, and see the labels come to life! I know there are plenty of moms out there who would love this wine as well as the fun and interactive living label. $18.99

2014 Seven Hills Merlot: This jammy and delicious Merlot is perfect for any mom who loves a classic pairing of red wine and chocolate. It’s dark ruby in color with dark berry, cocoa, and cedar aromas. It finishes with nice spice and vanilla notes, and easily pairs with any of the top 16 Ethel M chocolates in the 2018 Signature Collection. $45

2014 Clif Family Vineyards, Kit’s Killer Cab: From Howell Mountain in California, this Napa Valley blend from Cold Springs and Croquette Vineyards is ideal for a mom who loves a wine with black fruit, floral notes, and a big body. This wine is certainly drinkable now and will easily pair with chocolates, however, mom can absolutely cellar this wine too! $75
