Sara Lehman is a Certified Sommelier in NYC and Tennessee. Working and consulting between both states now, she’s hosting wine and spirits events for luxury buildings, restaurants, and more. On top of that, the pandemic launched a virtual side to Somm In The City, where she prepares wine and cocktail kits, to pair with her virtual classes. Whether it’s in person, or virtual, you can have your Somm anytime. When Sara is not hosting events or creating luxury amenity services, she’s a Guest Sommelier at The Lodge at Woodloch, a Destination Spa in PA.

Somm In The City was born out of pure desire to make food and wine pairings fun, as well as explore the world of food, wine, and spirits. “As a Sommelier, I am expected to know about cocktails, cigars, food pairings, and wine… so I wanted to create something meaningful, but easy enough to decipher, so readers and consumers could feel comfortable around these subjects.” Sara received her Sommelier training in Germany, at The German Wine School, in Koblenz, and then went on to Certified Sommelier, followed by the WSET Level 3 Advanced Certification in Wine and Spirits. Prior to that she worked as a Pastry Chef and in the restaurant business for over a decade!

Sara graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pastry Arts, Food Service Management, and Entrepreneurship from Johnson & Wales University.

Want to inquire about events, amenity services for your building, or virtual classes? Connect with Sara on the Contact Page!

Sara is located in NYC and Middle Tennessee, and has flown all over the world to attend events, visit wineries, and host educational classes. With over a decade working her way through the ranks of the restaurant industry, Sara is very comfortable talking to clientele of all levels, on the restaurant floor, as well as training staff on wine and spirits, and hosting small and large events.

Sara offers a wide range of consulting services, such as Guest Sommelier services at restaurants, who don’t necessarily need a full time Sommelier on staff, but want to offer “Sommelier services” and a wine list to match. Sara also does many in home wine and charcuterie classes, as well as more hands on style ones including “Baked Cheese & Bubbles” and more!

Sara has also been featured on JWU Alumni Success Stories, for her luxury real estate amenity services. This was an honor to be featured as such a young graduate, but Sara has always marched to the beat of her own drum, and has created a segment in the wine and events market that is unmatched. Sara is currently the first, and only full time Sommelier offered as an amenity service for luxury residential buildings!

You’ll also find her expertise as a Food Expert and Culinary Judge on Chopped, the Sargento Challenge, and featured as a wine expert on Elle.com, Shoes & Booze, Manhattan with a Twist, Just Wine App, and has contributed to The Daily Meal, Beverage Media Group, Wine Sisterhood, and Hot From The Kettle, and Snooth.
