When the weather gets nice, I get out to more restaurants, especially in NYC when going out is just a part of everyday life. I always enjoy trying new restaurants and was wowed by T-Bar Steak and Lounge when I had dinner there a few weeks ago. Enjoying a nice steakhouse is easy, but sometimes it’s great when you can find a more modern steakhouse with not so typical menu options and a great cocktail and wine program.

What attracted me to this Midtown East steak and lounge restaurant was its colorful decor and sleek charm. I started off with cocktails because in NYC that’s just how we do it here. I enjoy cocktails usually with appetizers, especially with the Seared Spanish Octopus, Tuna Tartare, and Foie Gras and Chicken Parfait. A floral and fruit forward cocktail would work nicely with these appetizers as well as some of their wines by the glass selections. Our server Chantelle was awesome and very accommodating. She, like many on the service team and the staff there can make great pairing recommendations, so if you’re unsure, be sure to ask them!

Unlike traditional steakhouses where they offer different cuts of meat and sides, T-Bar does it a bit differently by offering fusion cuisine such as Tamarind Chicken Wings, Chilean Sea Bass with a soy glaze, Crispy Long Island Duck, Lamb Burgers, and so much more. After some appetizers including the three mentioned above, it was time for some mains and sides. The Crispy Long Island Duck and Filet Mignon were my top two main choices. I simply cannot resist duck and filet mignon, and the fact that they had both was a win for my stomach! Paired alongside the two amazing main dishes was a glass of Napa Cabernet, which paired beautifully with both the mains and a side of gooey mac and cheese!

Even though I was so incredibly full, there was still room for a few bites of dessert, and the Warm Apple Crisp was the one that stole my heart. It was a chilly March evening in NYC, so this dessert was the perfect comforting sweet treat that ended an incredibly flavorful meal. The portions here are big enough to share, so I recommend this as a great date night spot as well as for groups and double dates. Here there are so many options it’s hard not to want to order everything and just share, which is how I find is the best way to experience a restaurant’s menu to the fullest.

If you’re in the mood for some fantastic steakhouse options but with a modern and relaxed atmosphere that’s colorful and alluring then head to T-Bar Steak and Lounge! It’s a hot spot for cocktails, food, and wine, and between the menu options, service, and vibe, it’s a place you will want to frequent.
