Street Taco is a casual bar and restaurant on Third Avenue in the Gramercy area of NYC. It’s a mix of Mexican street food and Mexican street art with a great ambiance. I recently tried this street spot for brunch, and enjoyed a ton of tacos paired with some pretty cool brunch-tails.
I started off with a Mango Chipotle and Strawberry Mint Pop-Tail. These Prosecco popsicle wine cocktails are delicious and fun, and make for a great boozy treat with all this summer heat we’re having. The ice pop also helps if you use the spicy sauces they provide for your taco’s, and will cool your mouth right down, so you can enjoy another bite! Street Taco is a very casual spot where you can pencil in your taco and guacamole orders.
As a guacamole addict, I had to start off with the original chips and guac. It’s a heaping pile of deliciousness alongside some fresh salty chips. The guac bowls are great as a shareable appetizer, and if I hadn’t gotten the original, the Mango Pomegranate Guacamole would have been my second choice. As for the tacos, I enjoyed an array of: Pork Carnitas, with Serrano, Chicharrones, Onion, Cilantro, Avocado Crema, a Lamb Barboca with Avocado Crema, Chipotle Salsa, a Roasted Cauliflower Taco with Pico, Crema, Cotija, Radish, and a Gringo Taco,
with Seasoned Ground Beef, Lettuce, Pico, Crema, Monterey Jack, in a Hard Shell.
The tacos come one per order and range from $4-5.00, which is great considering the ingredients are fresh and the flavors are out of this world, delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the cauliflower taco, it had so much flavor and texture to it, and makes a great vegetarian option. I also fell in love with the Lamb and Gringo Taco, mainly because I love lamb any which way it’s served to me… and I also really do enjoy hard shell tacos.
Had I not had about five tacos plus chips and guac, I would have totally went for dessert. Sadly I was way to full but next time the Churro Donuts are mine! For those of you seeking out a fun, casual, street taco spot to spend time with friends over some great food and drinks, I absolutely recommend stopping by Street Taco; you will not be disappointed!
