The W Hotel in Downtown NYC is kicking off summer with fantastic cocktail and culinary related events at the Living Room Bar and Terrace. This past Wednesday was the first of weeklong events. Thursday’s event, which I was able to attend, was an entertaining and informative passport cocktail night. At the event, each guest received a passport and was able to visit and have a “country” inspired cocktail along with a food pairing. Stoli Vodka had a table representing Russia with a Moscow Mule in adorable Mule Mugs made of copper. Leblon representing Brazil put a unique twist on a refreshing simple lime cocktail while adding a rim shot of their Cedilla, macerated fruit liquor from Acai berries.

Italy kept it very traditional while serving Bellini’s, but man they were good; and you can’t go wrong with one of those. Finally, we went to Spain, serving up delightful red sangria that was very light and not overly sweet. “Lite Bites” were served and included a selection of Lamb Sliders, Crostini and Ricotta Chive Spread, as well as Skewered Shrimp. The view from the terrace of the W Hotel Downtown is gorgeous as you overlook the city and what will soon be the New World Trade Center. The music played, the drinks kept on coming, and everyone was having a wonderful time from lounging in very comfy chairs, enjoying the cool breeze, and even participating in a life size Connect Four game!

Here is a list of the rest of the events for the week; be sure to check them out on the W Hotels webpage.
