img_9009This time of year is perfect for pairing biscotti with wine and beer. This cookie is typically enjoyed at the end of a meal with coffee, espresso, or cappuccino. In partnership with Nonni’s Biscotti, this blog is bringing you some bold beer and biscotti pairings!

Many know and enjoy Nonni’s Biscotti, which is widely distributed across the U.S. The delicious varieties and seasonal flavors offered by this brand are just what you need to brighten up your holiday season. I recently tasted the Turtle Pecan and Triple Chocolate Biscotti’s and paired them with two types of beers. Beer and biscotti make for a wonderful pairing (when paired properly) and are fun for a party, holiday gathering, or chilly movie night indoors.

Beer Pairing #1: Brooklyn Brewery Intensified Coffee Porter. This porter is big, chocolatey, and aged in bourbon barrels. The coffee beans are harvested by Finca El Manzano Single Origin Coffee in El Salvador, and Blue Bottle Coffee, who then roasts the coffee to img_9010perfection. The Turtle Pecan Biscotti pairs well with the vanilla, oak, and dried fruit notes in this dark beer, while the Triple Chocolate Biscotti brings out the seductive chocolate flavors and compliments the coffee notes. 11.8% abv.

Beer Pairing #2: The Reverend, Belgian-style quadruple ale. This ale is complex and aromatic with hints of dark cherry, molasses, and spice. It’s rich sweetness compliments the caramel in the Turtle Pecan Biscotti, while the crunchy pecans add a nice balance texturally and pair well with the ales dark cherry notes. The Triple Chocolate Biscotti pairs beautifully with the spice, cherry, and molasses notes in the beer, and is a sinfully sweet delight! 10.0% abv.

This holiday season, Somm In The City will be bringing you some wonderful wine, beer, and Nonni’s Biscotti pairings! Always remember, eat what you like and drink what you love… please pair responsibly.
