It’s no surprise that when you get home from a long day at work, you want nothing more than a nice meal. For a wine lover and a foodie, there’s nothing like coming home, opening a great bottle of wine, and making yourself an awesome dinner, especially on these fun fall nights.
In the spirit of Wine Wednesday, and that we love our weeknight wines, this 2010 Celeste hits the spot with this fun fall inspired dish! Miguel Torres makes fantastic wines that fill your nose and palate with sensual flavors and aromas that almost always force you to make a delicious meal. I chose the 2010 Celeste, because it’s a cooler day, the suns not out, and I love the starry sky label. I first tried this wine at a dinner with Miguel Torres himself, and fell absolutely in love with very sexy wine.
For pairing purposes, this wine needed to accompany some Grilled Lamb Chops over a Spiced Pumpkin and Shitake Mushroom Risotto. This full-bodied red fills your mouth with sweet baking spice, black fruit, cherry, and some pepper, while being very persistent on the palate with nice ripe tannins that grip you into to fully enjoying this wine. The lamb and risotto are perfect for this, due to the lamb’s soft, meaty nature, and of course the sweeter side to the risotto, making only the delicious fruit and spice notes linger on your palate after each and every bite, or sip.
This 2010 Vintage was fabulous, however if you have some older Celeste, due share your thoughts, and or bottle notes 😉
Always remember… eat what you like, and drink what you love!
