In case you don’t follow us on Instagram or Facebook (please do), I’m excited to share that I launched two Extra Virgin Olive Oils! In May, I decided to add another title to my repertoire by becoming a Certified Olive Oil Sommelier, and it was one of the best experiences of my career. I took the course through the Olive Oil Times in NYC, where I spent a week delving deep into the production, quality, and defects of olive oil. I learned why authentic Extra Virgin Olive Oil is worth its price tag and what goes into making pure, green olive oil.

We had the privilege of learning from guest instructors, including Master Tasters, scientists, and Dr. Simon Poole, among others. The course attracted a diverse group of students—some owned olive groves, others were starting to produce olive oil, and many were there to enhance their knowledge, just like me. As a Sommelier and Chef, I took this course to better understand an ingredient I’ve used for years and to ensure the quality of my own private label olive oil.

After graduation, I was thrilled to receive the first bottles of my brand, Somm In The Grove. I launched these Extra Virgin Olive Oils because they added something special to my wine tastings, creating a more inclusive experience. Whether hosting tastings for new moms, clients enjoying non-wine nights, or groups with mixed preferences, everyone could join in the fun.

I launched a Picual, the first olive oil varietal I fell in love with from Spain. It’s known for its signature notes of tomato leaf and fresh-cut grass. This medium olive oil is versatile, pairing beautifully with soups, seafood, cocktails, and even popcorn!

The Coratina, from Puglia, Italy, is a robust olive oil that’s a favorite among those who appreciate a pungent kick. With flavors of artichoke and fresh herbs, it’s perfect for soups, meats, and finishing grilled veggies.

I chose these varietals for their taste, sustainability, and high polyphenol content. Polyphenols are essential antioxidants that contribute to the health benefits of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Did you know that many olive oils in supermarkets are rancid, defective, or exposed to too much light? We guarantee that Somm In The Grove is different. Our oils are shipped in winter in large, temperature-controlled containers and stored in the dark until you receive them, ensuring optimal freshness and no defects.

You can shop for both oils on my SHOP page, and save by purchasing the double pack! Each box comes with recipes that I update monthly, and you’ll also be entered into our monthly giveaways.

Here’s what you can expect from Somm In The Grove:

  • These are Green Olive Oils, harvested early in the season. The Picual was harvested in October 2023, and the Coratina in November 2023. Both were pressed within hours to avoid fermentation and defects.
  • High in polyphenols, these oils provide the antioxidants needed to fight inflammation, support gut health, and more.
  • Small-batch production ensures optimal freshness.
  • Sustainably grown in Toledo, Spain, and Puglia, Italy.
  • Bottled in Pennsylvania in an FDA-compliant facility to ensure proper handling and safety.
  • Guaranteed freshness for up to two years.

In July, I hosted a media and trade launch party in Nashville, and it was a huge success. The event featured Wine & Olive Oil pairings, with wines from Vineyard Brands showcasing fruit and minerality, alongside Spanish and Italian olive oils. Each dish was finished with or infused with olive oil, including Olive Oil Caramel over Baked Brie, BreadKone Greek Salad cones with whipped feta, an olive oil dipping station with fresh bread from Ace Bakery, my signature Olive Oil Espresso Martini made with Dulce Vida Reposado Tequila, and Olive Oil Ice Cream using the Picual by Somm In The Grove. This event was hosted at a stunning AirBnb in West Nashville called Freebird on Fern; it’s such a great house!

As my business grows, stay tuned for more, including the launch of two flavored Balsamic Vinegars and a 500ml Cooking Arbequina Extra Virgin Olive Oil in 2025.

Always remember, eat what you like and drink what you love. Please pair responsibly!
