This year has been a wild one, wouldn’t you agree? Between Covid-19, quarantine, and everything turning virtual, you can certainly say that happy hours have taken on a new meaning! Happy Hours used to be going out to bars, after work, meeting your friends, and catching up about the day. Once the world stopped, it was hard to see the “happy” in happy hour, but luckily for me… Mionetto made it happen!

Mionetto Prosecco is one of the most well known and recognized Prosecco’s out there. If you don’t think you know Mionetto…trust me, you do! It started in 1887 when Francesco Mionetto started a winery in Valdobbiadene, the heart of the Prosecco area, just north of Venice. This is a wine region I have explored in wine classes, but have not been to yet. I’ve passed it on wine trips, and have always wanted to visit the Prosecco area! Prosecco is one of my favorite styles of sparkling wine because it’s fun and easy to drink. Prosecco is always a crowd-pleaser and mixes really well into cocktails too, making it a very versatile style of bubbly.

I had the pleasure of tasting some fantastic Mionetto Prosecco expressions during this time, and it was a lot of fun. It’s the perfect wine to grab if you and your friends are gathering together on zoom for a wine session because it’s available almost everywhere, and is very price approachable!

The lineup of Mionetto consists of four fantastic options.

Mionetto Prestige Brut- Made from 100% Glera grapes from the province of Treviso. This is an area famous for high-quality Prosecco! This bubbly offers bright fruit and nice effervescence. On the palate, you’ll enjoy the white peach and honey notes followed by nice citrus fruit and minerality. This wine is perfect as an aperitif, but can also be made into a spritz, which is a great way to begin happy hour! $14

Mionetto Prestige Rosé Extra Dry- This is a very tasty sparkling rosè. It’s the result of the soft pressing of red grapes. The wine offers peach and intense fruit aromas followed by nice violet, strawberry, and red fruit. It’s a fabulous rosé that can also easily transition into a cocktail. My favorite cocktail with this one is a French 75 made in a rosé style of course! $14

Mionetto Prosecco DOC Organic Extra Dry-  This prosecco is extra dry and organic! It’s a favorite for me, as well as one I feature at events when I host them at 160 Madison. This wine was a shining star at our Diner en Blanc last year, and tasting it again with the Mionetto team was so much fun! This wine is produced without chemical products or synthetic chemicals and is produced from a vinification kept separate from other processes. A sparkling wine with nice golden apple, pineapple, and citrus notes is just what you need for your happy hour! $14

Mionetto Luxury Cartizze DOCG – This elegant bubbly is very special! It’s a wine that makes a great gift because of its elegance. The apple, pear, and almond notes in this wine are extremely attractive and really make it stand out from the rest. On the palate, it is crisp, well-balanced, and beautiful. $40

All of these wines are great for summer and can easily be enjoyed year-round. Prosecco is meant for celebrations but also meant to be enjoyed with friends and loved ones. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s to embrace life, enjoy time with the ones you love, and live for yourself! You can do all of that while sipping on Mionetto!

Always remember, eat what you like and drink what you love. Please pair responsibly!
