The holidays are a time of joy, drinking, and spending time with your loved ones and friends as much as possible. Whether you are working or spending the days with family or friends, we should take a minute to be thankful to the wonderful Police Officers, Doctors, Nurses, Fire Fighters, and Soldiers, who not only work every holiday, but also protect and serve us on these holidays as well.

For those of you celebrating with great food and wine, here are some fantastic holiday wines you need to stock up on this season!

Sparkling Wines

Mionetto “IL” Sprlz: This beautiful bottle alone screams celebration, however the taste is what will keep your glass full until the last drop! Crafted from the classic Spritz recipe, “IL” Spr!z is a premium frizzante with natural colors and flavors of blood orange and select herbs. To serve it as an aperitif, pour it over ice and garnish with an orange slice.

1506535_318110208363562_3171596039020851592_nCeradello Prosecco: This Prosecco is light and fresh and would be perfect to sip while your cooking all morning/ afternoon. Before guests arrive, rub your turkey down, prepare your vegetables and potatoes, and then pop this bubbly open and celebrate yourself!

Bolla Prosecco: Bolla is a wine I certainly love to drink and talk about on this site. The Prosecco is fun, fruit forward, and easily drinkable if you have apps early on in the day before the big feast. This wine is perfect for guests upon arrival, and will get everyone in the thankful holiday spirit.

White Wines

image002-1Josh Cellars Sauvignon Blanc: Josh Cellars, a Joseph Carr wine is fun and easy to drink. No matter what the palate preference is at the table, your white wine drinkers will love the Sauvignon Blanc with their vegetables, mashed potatoes, and turkey.

Livio Felluga Pinot Grigio:Why not pair Thanksgiving dishes, which are a tradition, with a classic white wine? Made by Livio Felluga, this elegant Pinot Grigio has wonderful minerality and notes of golden apple, perfect for the Pinot Grigio lovers in your life!

Chateau Montelena Chardonnay: These wines are a little pricier, ranging for around $50.00/bottle, however for those of you who want to give a nice gift to your hostess, or simply know how great these wines are too, then the 2012 Chardonnay is a wonderful California white for your table.

Red Wines

Josh Cellars Pinot Noir: Lighter in body and great with some appetizers and or your meal. If your feasting like a King or Queen, then you may want a lighter wine to pair well with the food but also to save room for seconds, thirds, or desserts!

image008-1Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon: This cabernet is bigger, bolder, and smoothly balanced. The Josh Cellars Cabernet happens to be one of my go to wines when with friends, in this colder weather, and or when I want something everyone that drinks reds will love. This will go beautifully with both the Turkey and even Pecan Pie!

Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva: This food-friendly blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino, is perfectly suitable for the holiday bird as well as some savory sides like Sweet Potato Casserole, Creamed Spinach, and Cranberry Sauce!

Rocca Sveva Ripasso:The production process for a Ripasso is labor intensive and crafted with extra TLC; like your Thanksgiving feast. At a price of around $22.00 you can have a special feast, with a special wine, and still have enough money left for some Cyber Monday shopping!

Rioja is a fantastic region producing stunning reds that the whole family will love. This one is around $50.00 so make sure your sharing with very thankful family and friends!

Faustino V Reserva Tinto 2008: Oh these Rioja’s, how lovely they are. This one is not only $14.00, which is a steal! But it is wonderful with dinner, however if you want to open another bottle after dinner, and prep some dessert, this Rioja will keep you and your Thanksgiving guests very happy. This luscious, spicy, big red is perfect with some dessert, while watching movies, and relaxing after a full day of cooking and eating.

Rodney Strong Gentleman’s Port: This luscious port wine is great for those who want something sweet and big after dinner. I like to pair this one with a nice Cigar, sit outside (if its not too cold) and enjoy the aftermath of a well-prepared feast with friends and family.

Ice Wine-The Most Romantic Wine Company: Whether it’s the Vidal Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon Ice Wine, or the Riesling, TMRW can be found in many wine shops and is perfect with some Pumpkin Pie, Ice Cream, and or Caramel Pound Cake with Roasted Apples!

Always remember to eat what you like and drink what you love. Please pair responsibly this holiday season, and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
