I discovered this gem in my neighborhood about a week ago. On Avenue A in Alphabet City, lies this little spot called the Fat Buddha. Known for their late night parties, hot drink specials, and great garlic edamame, this was one spot I had to check out!

IMG_0639Silly me decided to go during what would be a normal happy hour time and the place was very empty. Luckily however, I had a great bartender who managed to entertain me until a few friends showed up. As it reached 8pm the place started to pick up and by 9 it was flooded. Their happy hour specials are a steal with $2.00 garlic or regular edamame, $4.00 house wines, and $7.00 Lychee Martinis.

With good food and good friends comes great times. We decided to order some of the “Asian Tapas” and it was delicious! The Calamari was breaded, fried, and sauced perfectly, while the Shrimp Rolls came with the sweetest duck sauce that was out of this world yum! The Chicken Wings were sticky and delectable and so much fun when washed down with the Lychee Martini.

Make sure to check out the Fat Buddha next time your over in the East Village. Late nights with great bites… how could you go wrong?
