One of the best Bordeaux’s I’ve had in a while! 🍇 Château Barbot Gallet, located in the charming region of Saint-Germain-de-Grave in Gironde, is truly a gem. This family-owned 20-hectare vineyard, previously belonging to the Gallet family for three generations, found new life in 2022 under the ownership of the LAL family. The vineyard consists of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the LAL family has proudly revived wine production after it paused in 2016.
The Bordeaux region, where Château Barbot Gallet is located, has been a cornerstone of French winemaking for centuries. Its temperate climate, influenced by the nearby Atlantic Ocean, and diverse terroir create ideal conditions for producing some of the world’s most prestigious wines. The region’s rich history dates back to Roman times, and its wines have been favored by royalty and exported globally for hundreds of years. Known for its distinct blends of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, Bordeaux epitomizes balance, elegance, and age-worthy wines, contributing significantly to France’s cultural and economic heritage.
Their first vintage is a stunning Bordeaux blend, dominated by silky Merlot and beautifully balanced with hints of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine transports you to the heart of Bordeaux with each sip—earthy, smooth, and bursting with the region’s character.
I paired it with a roasted Mediterranean vegetable dish, inspired by my love for Extra Virgin Olive Oil and the Mediterranean Diet. As we embrace fall, this pairing feels perfect—rich, warm, and wholesome. Stay tuned for more details as this exceptional wine makes its debut in the USA. I can’t wait to see how it evolves!
