“Santa Baby… hurry down the chimney tonight”! -Eartha Kitt

Yes… my little Cali girl loves to be in my wine pictures and beg for food…

Rioja, a big, bold, and beautiful red wine from Spain is a new tradition I will be “leaving for Santa” this Christmas! Once I learned to really appreciate wine quite some time ago, I knew that enjoying beautiful wines with my family and leaving a glass out near the tree every year was something I wanted to start doing. Santa deserves some beautiful wine, especially because every year I have gotten everything I have wanted and more under the tree! This year do something a little different for the “Christmas Miracle Man” who leaves great gifts under your tree.

This Faustino V Reserva Tinto 2008 is stunning! For $14.00 how can you beat it right? This wine has bright cherry and cranberry aromas with a hint of spice and oak. On the palate, it’s smooth, seductive, and medium plus bodied. I loved this wine so much the first time I tried it, I drank the entire bottle with out realizing it. Every sip was seducing me into another, and the wine flowed so elegantly out of the bottle, it was just a wonderful winter night in.

Paired with this beauty: Angel Hair a la Puttanesca! The sweet, salty, and acidic flavors in this dish complimented the Rioja’s youth, aromas, and fruit forward palate. Sip by sip, bite by bite, this pairing is one of my favorites this fall/winter season so far (at least from what i’ve made at home). Puttanesca is super simple to make, and great with so many wines.

Merry Christmas Wine Lovers! Eat what you like and drink what you love!
