During a recent trip back to NYC, I had the pleasure of visiting a Jersey City restaurant that boasts an impressive mixology program and a menu that is sure to tantalize your taste buds. The Table, Jersey City is precisely what this neighborhood needed, conveniently situated close to the train station, making it accessible even for those in NYC. The establishment itself is a sight to behold, featuring an upscale ambiance, delectable bar bites, mouthwatering pizzas, and sinfully delightful desserts. This restaurant stands out as a unique gem in the heart of Jersey City, a much-needed addition to this rapidly growing area filled with luxury buildings and urban attractions.

The mixology program, led by the talented Juan, is nothing short of phenomenal. Juan infuses creativity and fresh ingredients into every cocktail on the menu. Our evening began at the bar, where Juan guided us through the menu and demonstrated the art of crafting two exceptional cocktails: the “Justice for Barb” and the “Big in Japan.” Both were refreshingly gin-centric, which I personally enjoyed. The “Justice for Barb” is a playful twist, featuring Aperol, gin, rhubarb, and sparkling rosé—essentially, a spritz elevated to a whole new level.

After our delightful start at the bar, we transitioned to our table and continued to indulge in a feast of both culinary delights and cocktails. Our table was graced with the “Pica Pica” cocktail, a harmonious blend of sweet and spicy flavors that danced gracefully on the palate, enticing us to savor every sip. This cocktail paired beautifully with the Hand-made Burrata Appetizer and the Decked Out Mac and Cheese. The Mac and Cheese was an absolute revelation, boasting three types of cheese and a delightful addition of chopped cauliflower, rendering it both playful and scrumptious. Alongside the “Pica Pica,” we savored the Spicy Margarita and the Pornstar Martini, as Juan generously treated us to a tour of the entire cocktail menu, leaving us thoroughly impressed.

While I had heard commendations about their salads, I couldn’t resist the allure of their pizzas, especially given their house-made dough. I must say, it was a choice well made. We opted for the House Made Sausage Pizza, which left us awestruck. The pizza was impeccably fresh, with perfectly spiced and blended sausage, hitting all the right notes. These pizzas are perfect for sharing, but they also make for a satisfying personal meal.

Following our pizza adventure, we decided to split the Braised Short Ribs, a dish that proved to be both hearty and utterly satisfying. The ribs were incredibly tender, impeccably cooked, and crowned with a delectable red sauce, served with a side of chive mashed potatoes that perfectly balanced the rich, savory flavors. On a rainy day in Jersey City, this dish provided the ultimate comfort and warmth, making it an ideal choice for the impending colder months.

To conclude our extraordinary dining experience, Juan treated us to two variations of Espresso Martinis, which were nothing short of exquisite. Being a fervent fan of Espresso Martinis, I always make it a point to enjoy one wherever I encounter a noteworthy cocktail program. To complement these after-dinner delights, we indulged in the pièce de résistance of the dessert menu: the “Downtown Bread Pudding,” accompanied by salted caramel sauce and dulce de leche ice cream. This dessert was nothing short of divine and an absolute must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth.

If you find yourself in the vicinity, I wholeheartedly recommend paying a visit to The Table, Jersey City. It’s an absolute delight, with a stellar team that is welcoming and attentive, ensuring you have a memorable experience from start to finish.
