IMG_9226Recently I was dining at Clement Restaurant & Bar tasting through some Midleton Distillery Whiskeys. The distillery is in County Cork Ireland and leading us through the tasting was Ciaran O’Donovan.

Whiskey & Dinner… what could be better?

We started off with the best Hot Toddy I have ever had. Hands down… the absolute best! Infuse the Jameson with Macerated Banana’s, soak Lemon Rind in sugar over night to make syrup, and then take the macerated whiskey, strain out bananas, and pour with some hot water. Top with Godiva Liqueur whipped cream!

IMG_9231After the warm and delightfully pleasing drink it was time for some whiskey and paired fare. We started off sipping the Redbreast Whiskey, which was smooth and comforting with this cold weather. Paired was Colcannon, an Irish dish that is out of this world yum. Bacon, Cabbage, Potato, and Cheese “pot” stewed, creamy, and oh so delicious with the smooth and spicy whiskey.

IMG_9232Next paired with Jameson Gold Reserve was Lobster Tempura with Yogurt Sauce. This was an interesting pairing but totally worked well together and I would certainly try it again.






Ricotta Crostini with Woodland Ham was third with the Midleton Very Rare 2014. This pairing worked well and was a nice way to end the three courses. All in all for those of you preparing for your Irish Festivities to take place Tuesday March 17th, be sure to grab some great whiskey and make it the ultimate evening!
